Woman, 71, Found Dead After Apparent Break-In In West Windsor

Elaine Murray, 71, of West Windsor appeared to have visible signs of injuries to the face, neck and head, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri alongside West Windsor Police Chief Robert Garofalo.

On Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, just after 8 p.m., West Windsor police responded to a residence on Galston Drive after neighbors went to conduct a well-being check on a female neighbor who lives alone and noticed evidence of a break-in, Onofri said. Police found Murray lying on the floor of a second-floor bedroom deceased. 

The death is under investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the West Windsor Police Department. 

No arrests have been made and the cause of Murray’s death is pending autopsy.
