“The City of White Plains Downtown New Year’s Eve Celebration has become a fun and exciting tradition for so many city residents as well as people from all over Westchester County. This is the biggest event in the Metropolitan area outside of the annual New York City celebration," Mayor Roach said in a release.
The party starts swinging at 10 p.m. with a DJ, followed by classic soul and funk music from regional band “Soul Synergy Orchestra”.
The "New Year Safe Ride Program" will be available again to provide free transportation home for Westchester residents who are 21 or older.
A "Safe Ride" stand at the corner of E. Post Road and Mamaroneck Avenue will direct a fleet of 30 cars to residences across Westchester from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
The Department of Public Safety has announced that the following street closures will be in effect forthe celebration:
- Main Street at Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd: 3 p.m. – 3 a.m.
- Court Street at Martine Avenue: 3 p.m. – 3 a.m.
- Renaissance Square: 5 p.m. – 3 a.m.
- Renaissance/Williams Street: 3 p.m. – 3 a.m.
- Mamaroneck Avenue Northbound: 9:30 p.m. – 1 a.m.
- Martine Avenue Westbound: 9:30 p.m. – 1 a.m.
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard at Martine Avenue (Northbound): 11:30 p.m. – 1 a.m.
