The Halloween Mischief event in Pokemon GO is now live, and with it, among several other things, is the new Special Research titled What Lies Beneath The Mask. Quite appropriately for a Halloween-themed event, this research centers on Ghost-type Pokemon. As you will see in our Pokemon GO What Lies Beneath The Mask Special Research Tasks & Rewards guide, you will need to catch quite a few of them in order to complete it. Also, two new stages of Misunderstood Mischief have also opened up, for those of you eager to continue this season-spanning story.

Like Pokemon aficionados are likely to notice right away in this What Lies Beneath The Mask Special Research, the numbers 9, 40, and 49 hold special significance here. This is because these numbers refer to the Galarian Yamask from Pokemon: Sword and Shield and its evolution. It needs to take 49 damage, and after that it will evolve into its new form – Runerigus.
