Simu Liu is an actor of Chinese and Canadian nationality, born on April 19, 1989, in Harbin, China. He emigrated with his family, when he was 5 years old, to Ontario, Canada, where he grew up and studied at the University of Toronto Schools, in addition to pursuing a degree in business and finance at the Ivey Business School. He worked as an accountant at a Canadian firm until he was laid off, which led him to rethink his options and decide to study acting. His first roles came as an extra and stuntman in film and television, aided by his skill in martial arts and stage combat. Finally, recurring roles arrived in series such as Omega (2013) and Taken (2017), which has been followed by participation in films such as Antisocial 2 (2015) and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
