Tyrone police say a teenager is being charged as an adult for reportedly stabbing a 26-year-old man Tuesday afternoon, according to a criminal complaint.

Police say on Tuesday, around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a domestic dispute at a home along the 600 block of Washington Ave. in Tyrone.

Authorities say responding officers were approached by 17-year-old Joshua Riggleman, who admitted to police that he had stabbed the man.

"I just had to stab him," Riggleman reportedly told police.

Police also found the victim laying outside the residence with multiple stab wounds to his back.

Upon further investigation, police learned that Riggleman and the man, who had been staying at the home, got into an argument which led to the teen stabbing him in the back three times.

Investigators say the knife used to stab the victim was found in Riggleman's possession and Riggleman reportedly claimed that he acted in self-defense, stating that the man had strangled him and held him at gunpoint.

Police say those claims were unfounded, however.

Police say Riggleman was taken into custody and is being charged as an adult with criminal attempted homicide, as well as charges of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault and harassment, according to court documents.

The victim was transported to UPMC Altoona for treatment of serious injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.

Police add that Riggleman has since been arraigned to Blair County Prison, on $300,000 bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 25th.
