5 Times Pedro Pascal Made Us Fall In Love With Him Onscreen

September 2024 · 3 minute read

The Internet has spoken and the current collective crush is Pedro Pascal. The Chilean-born American actor first burst into our consciousness when he appeared on the fourth season of Game of Thrones as the sly and sexy Oberyn Martell.

His swift (and horrific) exit from the show did nothing to hamper his growing popularity and after many iconic roles, he has proven his mettle as both a critically acclaimed actor and a performer who can make any character memorable.

Now that he is starring as the lead in HBO’s latest hit The Last of Us, it’s time for a reminder of all the times Pascal made us fall for his charismatic on screen personas over the years…

Joel Miller in The Last of Us

Already declared as one of the best video game adaptations ever, the show is packed with stellar performances. One of the best ones is Pascal’s Joel Miller, who has been tasked with escorting a teenager across a zombie apocalypse-ravaged country. The actor brings his characteristic charm with a healthy dose of vulnerability and gravitas that’s hard to take your eyes off of.

Javi Guttirez in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

The actor proved his versatility in this action comedy where he stars as an eccentric billionaire who happens to be Nicholas Cage’s biggest fan. Cage stars as himself and their bromance is something you cannot miss.

Javier Peña in Narcos

Pascal showed us once again that he is one of the best actors in this generation with a role that was starkly different from his last one at the time (Oberyn Martell, #NeverForget). The actor’s turn as Javier Peña, the real-life DEA agent who helped take down the Medellin cartel in the 80s was lauded by critics and audiences alike.

Din Djarin in The Mandalorian

The actor starred as the titular Mandalorian in this Star Wars spin-off that is easily one of the best Disney+ series along with being the best prequel series of the franchise. Pascal plays Din Djarin, the lone bounty hunter who has to protect Gorgu, AKA baby Yoda, from the dangerous Imperial forces.

Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones

Last, but never the least, is the role that made us all aware of the powerful performer that he is, Oberyn Martell is easily one of the best Game of Thrones characters. The Red Viper of Dorne made an appearance in the fourth season of the show and made his place in everyone’s heart as the roguish, sly, nobleman from the South who has deadly combat skills. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make it past one season but he has the honour of having the most gruesome death in the series, which considering the fact that the show has a wedding where they stab a pregnant woman’s belly, is saying a lot!
