Pace's Dr. Sue Maxam and Dr. Darren Hayes conceived and coordinated the week’s events with the help and support of additional students, faculty and others at Pace from March 23-26, 2015. "Our goal was to bring awareness to the Pace community about the horrors of human trafficking as well as what we could do to address the issue," said Dr. Maxam.

During her visit to Pace, Dr. Seddighzadeh was involved in a series of activities and events both in and out of the classroom designed to educate students and faculty on the complex issues surrounding the global human trafficking problem. Some of the issues addressed were dispelling the myths of human trafficking, discussing the health effects of trafficking and what can be done to combat the practice. 

Dr. Seddighzadeh, the keynote guest, is an internationally recognized forensic traumatologist. She specializes in psychological treatments of survivors of human trafficking, war refugees, genocide, and gender based violence. 

She is the Founder of ARMAN -- Asylee, Refugee Migrant Assistance Network -- an international mental health organization, armed with medical and psychological experts with extensive experience treating those who suffer from extreme torture and trauma around the world. She resides and works in Las Vegas, Nev.
