This is not a drill, Marilyn Monroe’s former penthouse apartment located in West Hollywood is on the market, and it’s gorgeous. Located below the Sunset Strip, this apartment is going up for $2.2 million, and since it has over 2,000 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, we don’t think it’ll last long on the market.
Related story Winona Ryder Is Allegedly Transitioning Into This Career Path to ‘Grow Her Fortune’The stunning spot has quite a Hollywood history. Monroe moved into this penthouse following her divorce from Joe DiMaggio in 1954 and then, four decades later, Portia de Rossi took residence in the West Hollywood’s Granville Towers apartment in the late 1990s. Along with these two stars, many legends have lived in this building, like Rock Hudson, David Bowie, Mickey Rourke, and more.
The penthouse’s current owner purchased the unit from de Rossi in 2003, paying $860,000, and now they’re selling it for a seriously tasty profit (despite trying to sell it for nearly $2.5 million back in 2018 and withdrawing soon after!) With the large rooms, hardwood floors, 24-7 doorman services, and a manicured courtyard garden, this is like a posh haven.
While this apartment probably won’t last long, let’s check out all that this gorgeous penthouse has to offer. See the photos of Monroe’s former home below (and make sure to see all the photos available at Dirt!)
French-Inspired
The French Normandy-style complex was built in 1930, and was later converted to condos in the late 1980s. You can see the French style is still there, and it has such a gorgeous outside (especially if you hate modern-looking buildings!)
Two-Level Dream
This penthouse is on two levels, with the lower featuring the living room, formal dining room, and kitchen, plus a guest bedroom and bath covered in hardwood floors and crown moldings.
Delightful Details
The detailing! The dark wood! It’s somehow classic and modern at the same time, and we’re obsessed.
Dreamy Bathroom
Along with a guest bathroom, there’s a spa-level bathroom with a huge soaking tub and a standing shower. How is this even real?! It’s something straight from our dreams!
Cozy & Dark Bedroom
With built-in window seats packed with storage, skylights, and dark wallpaper, you really get the best of both worlds with this modernized penthouse.
Amenity-Filled Building
Remember the courtyard we mentioned? Well, it has a sprawling garden, a huge fountain, an indoor swimming pool, and a gated dog run, to name a few features.
