Athletes traveled from out of state for a major boxing competition in Cambria County this past weekend.

Kastle Boxing in Johnstown held a “Battle at the Kastle” boxing event Saturday afternoon.

The competition featured 15 fights between local boxers, as well as athletes from New York, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Altoona, State College, and DuBois.

Over one hundred audience members watched the fighters as they competed for the “fight of the night” trophies.

Officials say they’re planning another large event for later this year.

“The sport of boxing is so popular. It’s a year-round sport. It’s so great for the kids. The culture’s great. It’s just really nice to see how well it was supported,” said Tony Penna Jr., owner of Kastle Boxing.
