Lawrence Gene David, a New Yorker, was born on 2. July 1947. He is the second son of Jewish parents Morty David and Rose David. Also raised in New York, David attended Sheepshead Bay High School and later the University of Maryland, where he studied history and then business administration. Shortly after graduating from college, he joined the US Army Reserve.

Larry David started his showbiz career in the early 1970s as a stand-up comedian in nightclubs across New York. However, he supplemented his stand-up career with various other jobs such as a salesman, taxi driver, TV repairman and paralegal. He then worked as a screenwriter and actor for ABC’s weekly comedy show Fridays between the late 1970s and early 1980s . He also worked as a writer for NBC Saturday Night Live between 1984 and 1985 .

However, Larry’s breakthrough project is undeniably his 1989 production Seinfeld . The NBC television series he co-created, produced and wrote was a huge hit, airing from 1989-1998. David’s performance in Seinfeld earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 1989. Larry David is also known for his work as the lead actor, creator and writer of the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2000. The show, which was also a huge hit, earned David 38 Primetime Emmy Award nominations as well as a 2003 Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series and a Golden Nymph Award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series.

Larry David was formerly married to LaurieLennard, a journalist and entertainment executive. The couple, who married on March 31, 1993, had two daughters together – the first, Cazzie Laurel, who was born on May 10, 1994, and Romy March, who was born on March 2, 1996. Cazzie had a good sense of humor, just like her father. She has her own online comedy series called Eighty Six which is related to her father’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. Unfortunately, after fourteen long years together, Larry and Laurie went their separate ways on July 13, 2007.
