Hogwarts Legacy features a large, expansive map allowing you to explore many different areas within the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, including the castle, the Forbidden Forest, and Hogsmeade.
Traveling from one place to another can be time-consuming and exhausting, so you must get your flying broom. The flying broom is also needed to complete Broom Races if you wish to unlock the Flight the Good Flight Trophy/Achievement.
How To Unlock the Broom in Hogwarts Legacy
To unlock the flying broom, you’ll need to advance the story until you finish Jackdaw’s Rest Main Quest, where you find the Map Chamber under Hogwarts Castle. After you finish the abovementioned main quest, you’ll have to complete the Flying Class Main Quest, where you will learn how to use the broomstick.
Once you’ve finished the Flying Class, fast-travel to any Hogsmeade Floo Flame and visit Spintwitches Sporting Needs Shop. We’ve also marked the exact location in the image below.
If you haven’t finished the Flying Class Main Quest, you’ll find the Spintwitches Sporting Needs Shop closed. Talk to the shop owner, Albie Weekes, and check his selection of available flying brooms. Each broom can be purchased for 600 Galleons.
You can pick whatever broom you like since there is no difference between them, only cosmetic. If you don’t have enough Galleons, sell the gear you don’t need anymore to the merchants in Hogsmeade. After you purchase the broom, press (L1)+(O)/(LB)+(B) to equip the flying broom on your Tool Wheel.
If you can’t equip your broom, it means you are in an area where flight is not allowed, such as Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Castle, and any dungeons or caves. Leave the abovementioned areas and enter the open world to equip the broom.
How To Upgrade Your Broom
After you purchase your first flying broom, you’ll also unlock the Flight Test Side Quest from the shop owner, Albie Weekes, where you’ll have to beat Iselda Reyes’s record in a Quidditch pitch Broom Trial. Check our guide mentioned above if you wish to know how to beat Iselda Reyes’s record.
Once you’ve beaten Iselda Reyes’s record, return to Mr. Weekes at Spintwitches Sporting Needs Shop to give him all the details about how the broom performed during the trial and to complete the side quest.
Then, Mr. Weekes will start preparing a broom upgrade and later send you a message through the Owl Post when it’s ready. You’ll receive it after you complete Percival Rackham’s Trial main quest. After you get the notification, revisit his shop, and you’ll have the option to buy the first broom upgrade for 1,000 Galleons. Additionally, you’ll start the Sweeping The Competition side quest, which you must complete.
To unlock the second broom upgrade at Albie Weeks, you must complete the Sweeping The Competition Side Quest and progress the story until you’ve completed In The Shadow Of The Mine Main Quest. He will send you an Owl, letting you know that another upgrade is available for purchase for 4,000 Galleons at his shop. Furthermore, purchasing the second upgrade will automatically start The Sky Is The Limit Side Quest, which you must complete if you want to unlock the final upgrade.
After you finish The Sky Is The Limit Quest, Mr. Weeks will send you another Owl to tell you that the final upgrade is available for 7,500 Galleons at his shop. A bit pricy, I know.
