DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Nearly every child in Dobbs Ferry who plays baseball or softball gathered with parents, family and coaches Saturday in the parking lot of Dobbs Ferry High School for the Little League Opening Day parade, which kicked off after all the players had photos taken to mark the day.

“We have a good little group of players,” said Tim Hartnett, who co-coaches the Doubleday’s Restaurant tee ball team along with Vinny Vicchio. “Some of the kids have some idea about the game, but we teach them as much as we can to get them going. We want them to know the game and how to catch, hit and run the bases. Mostly, we just want them to have fun.”

The Dobbs Ferry Little League gathered just before 9 a.m., and the players had their individual baseball card photos and team photos taken.

Scott Greco and Ben Hough coach the Pediatrics on Hudson minor league baseball squad.

“Our job is to get the fourth-graders going, prepared for the next level of Little League, and the third-graders to take the next step to improve,” Greco said. “By the time they are this age, you can see that some have a lot of talent and that others are improving by the end of the season. We all have good memories of our time as kids. This is a big day for everyone.”
