Cyberpunk 2077 Street Cred

June 2024 · 3 minute read

Street cred is a type of reputation in Cyberpunk 2077. It comes separately from regular experience points, and serves a different purpose. Since it’s not tied to your progression through the main story, or the number of people you gun down, some players are confused by how it all works. If you’re one of them, our Cyberpunk 2077 street cred guide will explain how the system functions, and how to get more street cred.

How street cred works?

Street cred is literally your reputation in Night City. It doesn’t affect your stats, it doesn’t affect combat, but what it does do is open doors. For instance, certain side missions are locked behind street cred requirements – you can’t take them on if you’re just a nobody. Those missions usually have great rewards, which means you’ll be missing out on some great gear. Likewise, vendors keep their best stock for famous customers – if you’re not one, you’re limited to just the usual iron.

This means that having high street cred will open up new opportunities, but it’s not essential. You can play through the game from start to finish without thinking too much about it.

How to get street cred?

  • Luckily, racking up street cred isn’t as difficult as it might seem at first. The best way to do it is by playing through open world activities – side missions. The ones you get at the start might not be all that glamorous, but keep in mind they’ll lead to bigger, better things. It’s a slow and steady way to get more reputation.
  • The best side activity for farming Street Cred is completing bounties and defeating Public Enemies. The NCPD issues bounties for some of the city’s wanted criminals. If you defeat a wanted person, the city will reward you with a generous money transfer and Street cred. Once you scan a wanted person you can see how many Street Creds, you’ll receive for defeating him. You’ll also get SC for defeating his friends.
  • There’s also clothes, which maketh the man in some way. Certain clothing items will increase your street cred, or the rate at which you earn it, so keep an eye out for those. It’s like that saying – don’t dress for the job you have, dress for the job you want.
