Introduction
Cole Beasley is a professional American football player and has enjoyed a decent career in the NFL.
His position is wide receiver, and he has played for two NFL teams since leaving college in 2012.
He currently plays for the Buffalo Bills in the American Football Conference of the NFL.
Beasley, unfortunately, went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft, but that didn’t stop Cole from achieving his dream.
The Origin Story
Cole Dickson Beasley was born on April 26th, 1989, in Dallas, Texas, United States.
He attended school in the Dallas metroplex, which included three years of high school where he attended Little Elm High School.
During his high school days, he played varsity football and was the team’s quarterback.
He led the team back-to-back Texas UIL Class 4A Playoffs.
While his natural position in high school was quarterback, he was actually pursued by a Division I college football team as a wide receiver.
Southern Methodist University
While Cole was a natural quarterback in high school, he was not being recruited by colleges to play that position.
Instead, he was being looked at as a college-wide receiver.
He would eventually accept a scholarship offer from a Division I college football team in Texas.
It was apparent that SMU or Southern Methodist University saw something that they liked in Cole on film.
They offered him a scholarship to play wide receiver, and he accepted.
He played as a freshman where is appeared in 7 of the teams’ football games and caught a total of 42 passes.
As a sophomore, he played in another 7 games and totaled 40 receptions, including 3 touchdowns, and had a total of 493 yards receiving.
He had a breakout season in his junior year; he caught an amazing 87 passes and followed it up with 86 as a senior.
Unfortunately, he did not get a great deal of attention from NFL scouting teams.
Due to that limited exposure, he went undrafted out of college.
So, after the 2012 NFL draft, he had to wait to see if any team would pick him up and sign him as an undrafted free agent.
Dallas Cowboys
His dream of making it to the NFL was answered when the Dallas Cowboys decided to sign the undrafted hometown boy.
So, in 2012, he started his pro career with “Americas Team.”
However, his football career didn’t get off to a very fast start when he abruptly decided to retire from football, almost before it started.
Later that year, he did return and played in a total of 10 games in his rookie season.
After a fairly slow start, his second year went much better, and he continued to perform at a high level and eventually signed a new 4-year contract in 2015 with the Cowboys.
Buffalo Bills
His career took a turn, and he left Dallas to join the Buffalo Bills in 2019. ”Can’t wait to get started in Buffalo,” Cole said.
As a receiver for the Bills, he had several games in which he had multiple receptions, including one game that he had 11 receptions against the Arizona Cardinals in 2020.
The 2020 season was by far the best season of his career in which he helped his team win their Wild Card round game.
In the game against the Indianapolis Colts, he had 7 catches for 57-yards. He followed that up with another 7 catch performance against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
On March 17, 2022, Beasley was released by Buffalo Bills.
