Authorities with the state attorney general's office say the man who escaped from the Warren County Jail over the summer has been sentenced to decades behind bars.
Michael Burham was ordered to serve an aggregate sentence of 25 years and two months to 50 years and four months in prison.
“The defendant used all possible means to escape the consequences of his actions,” said Attorney General Henry. “Today, thanks to hard work and collaboration between our office and the Pennsylvania State Police, the Warren County District Attorney’s Office, and the City of Warren Police Department, Michael Burham will be held accountable for his many crimes.”
Burham was bein housed in the Warren County Jail after being arrested for kidnapping an older Pennsylvania couple while he was under investigation in connection to a homicide case in New York.
Authorities say on July 6, Burham allegedly climbed onto the roof of the jail in order to escape.
He was recaptured 10 days later after being found in a wooded area.
Burham received a sentence of 3 1/2 years to 7 years on the escape charges, and 21 years and 8 months to 43 years and 4 months in the kidnapping case.
Officials note that Burham is still under investigation for the homicide in Jamestown, New York.
