Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for any new information on the homicide investigation of 16-year-old Nicholas Grassmyer, of Bellwood.

Authorities say Grassmyer was a junior at Bellwood-Antis High School, where he played football.

On Sept. 9, 1977, investigators Grassmyer played in his school's football game against Tyrone before going to visit his girlfriend.

Police say just after midnight, Grassmyer reportedly called his parents to tell them that he was having car trouble and that he was going to walk home.

Authorities say Grassmyer was last seen walking along Route 865, outside of Bellwood, and was traveling toward Route 220.

Investigators say on Sept. 11, 1977, Grassmyer's body was reportedly discovered off of Route 859, near Bellwood, just six miles from his home.

Police say an autopsy determined that Grassmyer had suffered a skull fracture and his death was ruled a homicide.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact PSP Hollidaysburg at 814-696-6100 or PA Crime Stoppers at 1-800-4PA-TIPS (8477).
